Klemm Rig Canopy Rebuild & Rotary Guard

Workshop-to-site turnaround • New bonnet & gates • Hydraulics and mechanical tidy-up

New Klemm rig canopy panels staged after fabrication

Overview

A Klemm piling rig arrived with a badly rusted bonnet and damaged canopy gates around the rotary. Rather than patching the original panels, I stripped the rig back, fabricated a fresh canopy set, replaced the gates, and delivered it repainted and trimmed ready for work. While the rig was in the workshop I also dealt with hydraulic leaks and mechanical niggles so it returned to the client clean, safe, and on time.

Scope & Methods

  • Removed failed bonnet, canopy panels, and rotary guards for assessment.
  • Fabricated new canopy sections, doors, and rotary gates with improved drainage and access.
  • Repaired mechanical issues, replaced damaged hydraulic hoses, and rerouted pipework.
  • Shot-prepped, primed, and painted components before final fit-out with trims and hardware.

Highlights

Fabrication & Fit

  • New canopy and gate assemblies laser-checked for alignment before welding.
  • Rotary area fully guarded with smooth-close gates and upgraded latches.

Finish & Handover

  • Painted in Klemm colours, fitted plastic trims, seals, and stainless fixings.
  • Hydraulic system flushed, leaks resolved, and machine signed off for return to the client.

Outcomes

  • Client received a like-new canopy package inside the agreed turnaround.
  • Rotary guards now meet current safety expectations with smoother operation.
  • Hydraulics and mechanical snags cleared before the rig went back to site.

Before & After
